i would say in a denied environment, it's something we in the military are looking and training to on a daily basis. but in terms of communications, in a denied environment -- and it's not through any particular act that's denying us other than whatever destruction is a resultant of the disaster that hit. and i think that's where we really have work to do. i think next year's table top exercise, if it addressed that or the drill itself went after that, i think we would stand to learn a lot. some of it wouldn't be pleasant, but better to learn it now than in the event something has happened. and thank you very much. >> thank you, sir. >> this is my third fleet week. the trajectory is right, and we really need to keep it going. and look forward to putting the pieces together for next year. >> i'll just echo those sentiments and let's hope that history is not a teacher because on october 17th, 1989 at 5:04 p.m., during the world series between the oakland athletics and the san francisco giants, that's when that one hit at 7.1 and then oakland went on to sweep 4 games to none. >> we are v

i am the residential and special projects zero waste coordinator for the department of environment and i have been working on the bottle bill that is known colloquial in california for 25 years. it's ab 2020, passed in 1986 to get beverage containers out of the waste stream and it's actually called the recycling litter reduction act, two-fold to get at recycling and reduce litter. it puts a nickel or dime redemption value in california. it has grown since 1986 with the redemption value was a penny and as over time it's grown up to the nickel and dime that you are familiar with now. what the law intends is for consumers to be able to conveniently get that nickel or dime that they pay back from a recycler as part of their daily going about their business. it's different than bottle bills in other states if you are familiar with the bottle bill in michigan or new york or massachusetts. you can take your bottle back to any store and get your nickel or dime back. this was intended to consolidate those many sites into more larger sites on typically supermarket parking lots. that is really wh

i don't like being heavy-handed or anything like that, but the environment and the waste is a mandatory matter that has to be addressed because it happens to be reality. so it seems to me that certainly existing facilities need to be mandatorily maintained. i don't see how we can avoid it when we know the problem is not going to go away obviously and some other incentives as well to encourage good policy and people returning. it has to be a combination of ideas, but i would go along with the support of strengthening this for supermarkets to be able to have to provide it, certainly with existing facilities. >> well, my concern that i am saying that as our city is becoming more affluent, we're getting more supermarketing coming in that are high-end. and so i just -- you know, i'm concerned that we might see more of these new supermarkets if they have the choice of opting out. you know, because that is just the way the city is going right now. space is expensive, and if there is any way for them to not provide the service, i would just think that is going to be happening more and more. >>

since the environment on an outdoor bar patio is not that different, it makes sense that they would also want pride to be smoke free. >> good afternoon, supervisors, my name is kimberlee long and one of the project advocates. for as long as i can remember i've been attending street events with my dad and he would allow me to go under one condition, as long as i had my inhaler. second hand smoke is a quick trigger for my asthma attacks and knowing that, it drove him nuts trying to have everything ready for me just in case. making these events smoke free will mean those who have issues breathing won't have to worry about that before. there's no safe level of secondhand smoke so i truly urge you to support this. >> thank you. if there's anyone else that would like to speak, please come forward. next speaker. >> my name is stef fan white, i am a tenant at 922 post street. i'm here because i understand that right now the law basically says that landlords can bar tenants from smoking in the common areas of buildings like the lobby and the hallways but it's not allowed to bar smoking in individ
